Should I join the air force or air reserve to build a successful career in information security?

I am currently completing a double major in security management and computer programming, not strong on programming yet.

you can opt for either information security management or Secure coding job (Including crypto programmer and secure coding techniques - which i do).

For information security management after completing your degree try for the CISSP (which needs 3 to 4 yrs of experience).

So join air force, which will definitely fuel your career if you want to go for Information Security management.

But secure coding needs very good understanding of programming languages and the about network and the system itself. Best of luck.

If you want to be in penetration testing business, please go through the EC-Council course CEH (certified ethical hacker), i do not know, how much you will be benefited for the certificate (i also have one), but i know that you will obviously understand what is hacking exactly. Report It

Unless you want to go fight the war in Iraq, or the one we may very likely start in Iran, or the one we might forge into in Korea, it's wiser to avoid the military- even the reserves (which are now synonymous with ''repeated active tours of duty'') for a while, no matter what promises they make about your safety or domestic assignment.
If you're looking for a career as in full time work, full time pay... it's tougher to get into the air reserve full time, but possible. I'd suggest active duty air force, though.
